Custom Field Avochato ←→ Salesforce Sync Behavior

Sync custom fields from Avochato to Salesforce and vice versa

Avochato Custom Fields

In Avochato, there are custom fields you can create on the Avochato Contact to save data beyond the basic PII information. These custom fields can be created manually within the Avochato → Settings → Custom Fields page, or by auto-creating your Salesforce standard & custom fields using the Sync Field Metadata button within the Salesforce Settings page.

Two Way

The default sync behavior between Avochato and Salesforce is a bidirectional sync. When data changes in Avochato, it’ll overwrite the mapped field on the Salesforce record, and when Salesforce data changes, those will be reflected back to Avochato (based on your List View Sync settings, or any bespoke Flow automation created to trigger Avochato Contact updates).

Only Salesforce to Avochato

Sometimes you may want to adjust the default sync behavior so that only one system updates the other, and not vise versa. For example, if Salesforce is the source of truth for a particular field, like Website , you can adjust the Salesforce Sync Behavior to only sync data from Salesforce to Avochato for that specific Avochato custom field, and Avochato will never attempt to update Website within Salesforce.

Only Avochato to Salesforce

Avochato may be your main platform for gathering survey information about your customer, like their Favorite_Coffee__c, and you can set the sync behavior to only sync changes on the Avochato Contact’s “Favorite Coffee” field to Salesforce, and to not allow Salesforce to overwrite that field data in Avochato.

Disable Sync

There may be other data points that you don’t want to sync between the two platforms. In that situation, simply choose “Disable” as the sync behavior

Considerations

Take note of the following considerations before adjusting the defaults settings:

  • No data syncs between the two systems unless there’s an active connection to Salesforce within your current Avochato Account. See Step 2 in this help article to connect or reconnect your Salesforce data sync connection to Avochato (and learn more about
  • Custom field Salesforce sync behavior settings only apply on top of the two baseline settings within the Salesforce Settings page.
    • If the “Sync Avochato Contact updates to Salesforce Record Fields” toggle is disabled, then no data will sync to Salesforce.
    • If the “List View Sync: Salesforce Records to Avochato Contacts” setting is disabled, then data won’t flow from Salesforce to Avochato (unless Flow / other automation has been created manually in Salesforce to update Avochato Contacts)
